A basement remodel over an existing moisture problem is money thrown away. Before we cover everything up, we look at the condition of the space and how the basement is handling moisture so we’re not hiding a problem behind new walls and flooring.
Adding a basement bathroom
Below-grade plumbing takes more planning than upstairs work — drain locations, the slab, venting and layout all matter. We evaluate those conditions during the estimate. We confirm the basement is dry and plan rooms around how you’ll actually use them, then frame, insulate and rough in plumbing and electrical.
Drywall, ceiling & flooring
Walls and ceiling go up, recessed lighting goes in, then flooring through the finished space.
Bathroom, trim & finish
The bathroom gets tiled and fitted, doors and trim go on, paint and punch list wrap it up before the walkthrough.

What does a basement remodel cost?
For context: an extensive ~900 sq ft project — drywall ceiling, bedroom, bathroom, recessed and halo lighting, new electrical and substantial finish work — typically runs about 6–8 weeks. Bathrooms, egress, plumbing, electrical, ceiling choice and overall finish level are what move the investment.

An extensive basement remodel is often around six to eight weeks, depending on the size and scope. Adding a bathroom, bedroom, egress, extensive electrical, plumbing or other major changes can affect the schedule. We’ll give you an expected timeline based on your actual basement.
Yes. We don’t want to cover an existing moisture problem with new walls and flooring. We look at the condition of the basement and how the space is handling moisture before the build moves forward. If there is an issue that needs to be addressed first, we’ll talk through it with you.
Yes. We can add basement bathrooms when the plumbing and layout make it practical. The amount of work depends on the existing drain locations, water lines, concrete slab, venting and bathroom layout, so we evaluate those conditions during the estimate.
Yes, but a basement bedroom needs to meet the applicable requirements for things such as emergency escape and rescue openings, ceiling height and other code items. We’ll look at the space and talk through what is needed before calling an area a bedroom.
Egress can be part of a basement project when needed and feasible. The exact requirements and installation depend on the home, foundation, grade and local code requirements, so it needs to be evaluated for the specific project.
We can build the ceiling around the project goals and existing utilities. Drywall gives a more finished-room appearance, while other ceiling approaches can make future utility access easier. We’ll go over the tradeoffs based on your basement.
